Every person experiences or realizes crucial moments and events
that shape their lives. These events can occur as continuous
sensations or as remnants of time suspended in memory. My energy
as an artist is a continuous experience, one that I work to
feed and fulfill. Suspended seconds of daily life accumulate
in my work. I cannot escape the physical and mental embodiment
of these impressions. They stay with me until they can best
be realized through personal photographic expression.
Photography and digital imaging have become the way in which
I represent selected suspended seconds of my surroundings and
my existence. This on-going photographic journey inspires me
not only to acquire knowledge of these mediums but also to share
the discoveries through teaching and instruction.
My digital-based images include a variety of information that
is related to my life. I use the human form as a central figure
and build up other layers around it. Most of the time, the figure
is originally photographed in nature or taken from old family
photographs. The text, drawings and photographs symbolize a
particular relationship with a person, event, or an overall
generalization juxtaposed with the figural element. The way
in which I work and build up these images is intuitive in response
to their aesthetic nature.
